What is sexting? You probably already kind of know…. It’s been in the news for a while now.
But do you know how popular it is? And who’s most likely to sext?
We didn’t, so we went to find out, and what we learned was VERY interesting. For example, is it older or younger women that sext more?

Sexting is defined by the U.S. court system as “an act of sending sexually explicit materials through mobile phones.” The messages may be text, photo, or video.
19% of 18-24 year-olds have sent a sext
17 percent of sexters share the messages they receive with others, and 55 percent of those share them with more than one person.
Fifty-seven percent of men and 45 percent of women have received a sext
23 percent of these people shared the information with others
Forty-two percent of men who shared the sext did so with at least three friends.

40 percent of 18-34 year olds sext, the largest percentage of all age groups
Between men and women, the largest number of males who sext are between 18 and 34, while women who sext tend to be older, in the 35- to 44-year-old range.
6% of Americans over 18 years of age sent a racy photo, while 15 percent of adults received such a photo.
Within the 18-to-29 demographic, the number of adults sexting was higher: 31 percent sent a photo and 13 percent were on the receiving end of a nude or nearly nude pic.
One in 10 smartphone owners over 55 have sexted
30 percent of parents with kids under 18 also sext.
When it comes to video, 11 percent of Americans said they record explicit videos on their phones, including 18 percent of dads and 5 percent of moms.
25% of all men have sent a “sext” to someone who wasn’t a partner, compared to 16% of women.
16% of presumably those same men have sent sexts to family members by accident, compared to 8% of women.
48% of women have sent a sext to a partner, compared to only 45% of men.
25% of men sent a sext to someone who isn’t a partner compared to only 16% of women
twice as many men than women have been caught sending a sext by a partner
18% of men delete sexts from a mobile phone to not get caught compared to 12% of women
56% of college students receive sexually suggestive images via text message
78% of college students receive suggestive messages
⅔ of college students send sexually suggestive messages
73% of sexts were sent to relationship partners
10% of recipients forwarded the sext o others without the consent of the person who originally sent it
17% who have received a sex forwarded it to others
